out in the distance there is a glow

the volumes breathe darkness and gather light

numbers calculate change

and measure remaining days

shapes converge as the pendulum swings

structure reassembles

circles reassure

there is warmth in the dirt

he aims to mend them with their own discards

out in the distance there is a glow

“out in the distance there is a glow” is the result of an artist’s residency at the Santa Cruz Resource Recovery Facility in 2019. Artists were given 4 months to glean and gather materials from the “dump” and then install projects at the R. Blitzer Gallery, Santa Cruz, CA in December 2019.

Materials used for this installation were: tar paper, dirt pigment, found item stencils, string, ink, found objects

“out in the distance there is a glow” is a line from the song “Big Darkness” by Crooked Fingers and used with permission from Eric Bachmann.
